Presidential candiate Ralph Nader and running mate Peter Camejo (shown next page) of the Green Party tout their platform Monday for a noontime crowd of about 900 at Freeborn Hall. Nader and Camejo are visiting campuses for their write-in campaign --WIN, for Write In Nader. Nader opposes the war in Iraq, the Patriot Act and corporate tax breaks, and supports health care and environmental reforms. He is on the ballot in 36 states and is seeking access in eight more. In other election news, several UC Davis faculty members are busy addressing news media queries regarding the Nov. 2 vote. Experts include political scientist Cindy Kam, who studies the variation in how citizens think about politics; political scientist Scott Gartner, who studies public opinion and war; constitutional law professor Carlton Larson, who researches the allocation of electoral college votes in proportion to the popular vote; political scientist Larry Berman, who studies the American presidency and foreign policy; and computer scientist Matt Bishop, who examines the security of electronic voting systems.
