Advancing Womxn in Technology raised money to continue the work they do to build a diverse and inclusive IT workforce. They hold a range of networking events, including those with panel interviews from industry leaders. They raised $5,005, which was 100% of their goal. This was the first time they had ever participated in Crowdfund UC Davis. (UC Davis photo)

Children’s Hospital Toy Drive

Each year, the Children’s Hospital raises money to provide holiday gifts to every child spending the holiday season in their hospital. The annual toy drive event, running now through Dec. 24, also helps the hospital keep toys, crafts, books and electronics in stock year-round. These materials are used to engage patients at their bedsides, and to help celebrate developmental milestones.

Michelle Tafoya, senior director of development at UC Davis Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network at UC Davis Health, along with her team, manage the program each year, with support from Crowdfund UC Davis.

“Each year we receive crucial support from UC Davis employees on both sides of the causeway,” she said. “That support has gotten us to the point where we can actually have materials in stock for the kids year-round. And that’s huge for the kids. It has really been a game-changer.”

Gifts will support the Child Life program at the hospital, clinics, and the MIND Institute. Last holiday season, the project raised almost $29,000 to support these children during the holidays and throughout the year. This year they are hoping to increase that amount.
