David Lee works for Transportation and Parking Services getting license and registration information for freshman Alexis Norausky's bike. As part of Fall Welcome Week, a bike registration drive was hosted on the north side of Hoagland Hall and at the TAPS office. All bikes operated on campus must have a current California bicycle license, and about 2,200 bikes were expected to be registered this week. Students and employees who don't have a bike but would like one can take advantage of the semi-annual bicycle auction at UC Davis Saturday, Oct. 9. The bikes, unclaimed or abandoned on campus, are of many sizes, types and conditions, and the average selling price will probably be $20 to $30. Cash or checks with identification will be accepted as payment, and bicycles may be licensed at the sale. The auction will start at 9 a.m., and the bikes will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Rain or shine, the auction will take place behind the office of Transportation and Parking Services on Extension Center Drive.
