Weigh In on UC Presidential Search at Jan. 17 Town Hall

The UC Davis community will have a chance to weigh in on the search for the next UC president next week when a committee of the UC Regents holds a public meeting on campus.

The Regents Special Committee to Consider the Selection of the Next UC President will hold a town hall at 1 p.m. on Jan. 17 in the Activities and Recreation Center’s Ballroom A.

“These town halls provide a platform for community members to voice their comments and concerns, as well as share their perspectives on the qualities and experience they believe the next UC president should have,” the committee says on its website. “Your participation is encouraged.”

Comments can be made in person or by phone, and registration is available online

UC President Michael V. Drake announced in July that he will step down at the end of the 2024-25 academic year. He assumed the UC presidency in 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as president of the University of California these past several years, and I am immensely proud of what the UC community has accomplished,” Drake said at the time. “At every turn, I have sought to listen to those I served, to uphold our shared UC values, and to do all I could to leave this institution in better shape than it was before.”
