UNIVERSITY ENSEMBLES MAKE MARCH MORE MUSICAL

The month of March also brings concerts by our very own musicians and singers (and guests for the Festivity of Bands):

Jazz Bands—New Jazz for Big Bands, contemporary jazz charts for big band. 7 p.m. March 3, Vanderhoef Studio Theatre, Mondavi Center.

Early Music and Baroque ensembles—They join forces to present Handel’s Dixit Dominus. 7 p.m. March 6, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 640 Hawthorne Lane, Davis.

Festivity of Bands—Side-by-side sets by the UC Davis Concert Band, and the California State University, Sacramento, and Davis High School symphonic
bands. The program includes works by Rachmaninov, Shostakovich, Tailleferre and Clifton Williams. 7 p.m. March 10, Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center.

Gospel Choir—7 p.m. March 13, Freeborn Hall.

University Chorus, Alumni Chorus and Symphony Orchestra—In a performance of devotional works: Bruckner’s Te Deum and Rossini’s Stabat mater. With Arianna Zukerman, soprano; Judith Malafronte, mezzo-soprano; Wesley Rogers, tenor; and James Maddalena, baritone. 8 p.m. March 14, Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center.

(Purchases for the Gospel Choir concert can be made only in person or by phone, not online). Admission to the Early Music and Baroque ensembles concert is by suggested donations at the door: $12 adults, $6 students and children.
