UC Davis Week Explores Asian Pacific Islander Issues

April 19-24, Monday to Saturday -- Asian Pacific Culture Week at UC Davis will celebrate culture and explore issues of Asian Pacific peoples. The week officially kicks off at 10 a.m. Monday with live music and entertainment. Other highlights include a discussion of spirituality and Asian American activism at noon Tuesday; a discussion of immigration with Bill Ong Hing, UC Davis professor of law and Asian American studies and author of "Defining America Through Immigration Policy," at noon Wednesday; a panel discussion on local activism for Asian American issues at noon Thursday; a workshop exploring sexism and patriarchy in the Asian Pacific Islander community at 3 p.m. Thursday; a workshop on performance poetry and interpretation at noon and a culture night at 7 p.m. Friday; and "Broken English: APIA Arts & Activism Conference" at 8 p.m. Saturday.
