UC Davis Event Marks National Coming Out Day

* Oct. 11, Thursday -- UC Davis will celebrate National Coming Out Day by publishing a list of campus community members and their relatives who identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or an ally. Participants will meet in the Memorial Union courtyard at 11:30 a.m. and march to the north steps of Mrak Hall. University administrators will help read the list of names, which is also being published in the student newspaper. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the community and to affirm the university's commitment to fostering a safe and respectful campus. The event is being sponsored by the Chancellor's Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues as well as the campus's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center. The university will celebrate Pride Week Oct. 22 to 27.
