TRANSITION: Charles Lesher

Geology professor Charles "Chip" Lesher has been appointed director of the UC Davis Education Abroad Program. Vice Provost Bill Lacy of University Outreach & International Programs announced the appointment, set to take effect July 1. As director of Education Abroad, he joins the directors of the Quarter Abroad and Summer Abroad programs, all of which are in the Education Abroad Center. Lacy said Lesher's accomplishments include chairing the Academic Senate Committee on International Studies and Exchanges, and serving as the campus representative on the universitywide Committee of International Education. Lesher has been involved in international education for two decades through his research on the geology of the Arctic, hosting numerous international graduate students, collaborating with European researchers and sending his students abroad.

Dave Richardson of Finance and Business Services is moving down the street, Drew Avenue, that is, to the California Lighting Technology Center, The center is a part of the Design Department in the College of Letters and Science. Richardson will serve as the first point of contact to the public at the center and will have responsibility for purchasing, CAMS inventories, supply inventories and facility operations. Within University Relations, Richardson most recently worked in technology purchasing, facilities management and safety-ergonomic coordination. Light refreshments will be served in Richardson's honor at 3 p.m. March 17 in the Drew Avenue break room.
