TOY DRIVES: On Davis campus and at children's hospital

The Toys for Tots drive continues on the Davis campus through today (Dec. 17), and then UC Davis Children’s Hospital launches a toy drive for patients.

The hospital’s toy collection is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 18-20, and Monday, Dec. 23. The collection point is the circular driveway at the MIND Institute, 2825 50th St., off Broadway, Sacramento.

“Anyone can make the season brighter for a child staying in our hospital this holiday season," said Diana Sundberg, manager of child life and creative arts therapy. “We’re thankful for the continued generosity and support from our community.”

The gifts will go to hospitalized children, as well as children in the pediatric emergency department, outpatient clinics, UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and MIND Institute. Toys and gifts also will be used in the hospital's playrooms and waiting areas throughout the year.

Due to infection control policies, all items must be brand new.

Materiel Management and Staff Assembly provide campus assistance for the Toys for Tots drive, run by the Marine Corps League’s Yolo County Detachment.

Gifts, which are distributed locally, should be new and unwrapped for children from infancy to age 14.

Donations are welcome in outgoing mail bins in departments and units; be sure to attach a label marked “Toys for Tots,” and Mail Services personnel will get the toys to the right place. Or, you can put toys in Toys for Tots barrels around the campus:
