FALL QUARTER

THIRDeYE Theatre Festival -- Annual undergraduate festival features student-written plays selected from scripts submitted the previous year; student dramaturges, directors, actors, designers and production crews then mount the plays. The 2008-09 selections: A Piece of Water, written by Julie Friedrichson and directed by Daniel Guttenberg, When Marcelli Met the Dream Maker, written by Carolyn Duncan and directed by Jenna Templeton, and The Readers, written by Joe Ferreira and directed by Kevin Ganger. 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 5-8, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9. Wyatt Pavilion Theatre. $10-$16.

#5 The Angry Red Drum -- Playwright Philip Kan Gotanda, Granada artist-in-residence, stages his latest work for the first time. 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Nov. 21-22, and Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 4-6; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23. Main Theatre. $11-$18.

WINTER QUARTER

The Winter's Tale -- Shakespeare work directed by graduating Master of Fine Arts candidate Patricia Miller. 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 13-14, and Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 19-21; 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. Studio Theatre, Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. $11-$18.

Valentine's Day Sonnet Walk -- This holiday event featuring Shakespeare's poetry is being sponsored by the Mondavi Center in conjunction with its yearlong focus on Shakespeare. Professor Peter Lichtenfels will lead the walk. Time not yet set. Saturday, Feb. 14. Free.

Choreographic work -- World premiere of a work created and directed by John Jasperse, Granada artist-in-residence. 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, March 6-7, and Friday-Saturday, March 13-14; 7 p.m. Sunday, March 8; and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15. Main Theatre. $11-$18.

SPRING QUARTER

Solo Explorations -- Four thesis presentation works by graduating MFA acting candidates Tim Orr, Christine Sampson, Rebecca David and Hope Mirlis. 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 3-4, Studio Theatre, Mondavi Center. $5-$10.

Main Stage Dance-Theatre Festival -- Wide-ranging venue for new choreography by undergraduate students, graduate students and UC Davis dance instructors. 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 10-11, and Friday, April 17; 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18 (Picnic Day); and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19. Main Theatre. $10-$16.

Oklahoma! -- The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, a joint production of the Department of Theatre and Dance, and the Department of Music, as a UC Davis Centennial event. Granada Artist-in-Residence Mindy Cooper, director and choreographer, and David Moschler (Master of Arts candidate in conducting), musical director, with the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra. 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, and Friday-Saturday, May 8-9; and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3 and 10. Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center. $8-$30.

Director's Showcase -- Title to be announced, directed by incoming M.F.A. candidate Candice Andrews. 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, May 28-30, and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31. Wyatt Pavilion Theatre. $10-$16.

Film festival -- Student competition presented by the Varsity Theatre in association with the Department of Theatre and Dance and the Technocultural Studies Program, plus Film Studies and Art Studio. Wednesday-Thursday, June 3-4, Varsity Theatre, 616 Second St., Davis.
