Student Death Investigated

The University of California, Davis, Police Department is investigating the death of a summer-session student whose body was discovered at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, in the parking lot adjacent to his residence hall.

The Yolo County Coroner's Office has identified the student as Barrett William Klenke, 20, of Modesto.

He was found in the parking lot just south of Webster Hall by a residence hall employee, who called 9-1-1. The City of Davis Fire Department, an ambulance and the UC Davis Police Department responded to the call, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. He had suffered head trauma.

Police indicate there were no reported witnesses to his death. Their investigation is continuing.

The coroner's office is expected to conduct an autopsy on Tuesday (Sept. 3).
