SPREAD THOSE WINGS

The scenery no longer ends when you come to a tunnel along the arboretum pathway. The south wall of the tunnel under A Street is where an environmental mural is just about finished. UC Davis employee Mark Rivera is pictured working on the mural's last piece, a field guide showing the plants and animals, like the swallowtail butterfly, that are featured in the mural. In turn, the plants and animals can be found in the arboretum. Rivera, a professional artist from Davis, is doing the work as part of his job as lab assistant for the university's Art-Science Fusion Program, run by Diane Ullman, entomology professor, and Donna Billick, ceramic artist. Students did much of the work on the tunnel mural during the fall quarter.
