Rep. Doris Matsui, D-Sacramento, visited campus April 15 to learn about the UC Davis Biogas Energy Project and the Renewable Energy Testing Center, two examples of green technology sites designed to generate new jobs and spur the economy. In this photo she is talking with Barry Klein, vice chancellor of the UC Davis Office of Research, in the campus’s Waste Water Treatment Center, which is located near the biogas digester. Matsui witnessed a demonstration of the digester, which converts various organic wastes into biogas fuels and other valuable products. The congresswoman serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which will soon take up the proposed federal energy bill.
