Funding opportunities

University Outreach and International Programs has announced a funding workshop regarding research and education opportunities with Latin America.

The brown bag program is scheduled from noon to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 28 in the Institute of Governmental Affairs Reading Room, 360 Shields Library.

Organizers said the program, for faculty, postdocs and graduate students, will be an introduction to the major research and higher education funding programs for work with or in Latin America.

‘Drive to a Clean Future’

Professor Andy Frank and program manager Dahlia Garas of UC Davis’ Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle Research Center are among the speakers who are scheduled to address a Davis community forum on emerging transportation choices.

The free forum, titled “The Drive to a Clean, Electric Vehicle Future,” is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28 in the community chamber at City Hall, 23 Russell Blvd. The forum is sponsored by the Valley Climate Action Center and the city of Davis.

Topics: hybrids, plug-ins and electrics, “electric economy,” solar power for cars, and city of Davis actions toward clean transportation.
