Mont Christopher Hubbard, son of engineering professor Mont Hubbard, enjoys the shade of an egghead near the school of law. The campus is considering relocating the two eggheads near the west side of the law school. The plan is to move them and the small mounds they sit upon to the oval in front of Mrak Hall. The extra room is needed for the renovation and expansion of the law school, which has not had a major upgrade since opening in 1969. Created by artist Robert Arneson in 1991, the law school eggheads are two of seven that he designed for five sites at UC Davis. Under campus guidelines, a formal process exists for the relocation of public art, and so on Sept. 8 the campus will release an environmental document on the proposal. On the right, law school dean Rex Perschbacher spoke at an Aug. 24 donor event celebrating the more than $2 million in leadership gifts the school has already received for its capital campaign. Also, this fall state voters will vote on Proposition 1D, which would provide $18 million in state funds to the law school project.
