“Take me out to the ballgame!” Or, in this case, join up with your UC Davis family at West Sacramento’s Raley Field for a ballgame AND a barbecue.

The UC Davis Picnic with the River Cats is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 29, when the Cats are due to take on the Fresno Grizzlies in a Pacific Coast League (Triple A) matchup at 1:05 p.m.

Besides a seat in the Gold Rush section, the $35 pricetag includes an all-you-can-eat barbecue from noon to 2 p.m. (hamburgers and hot dogs, corn on the cob and another side dish, and one nonalcoholic beverage), plus raffle prizes, face painting and balloon artists. For $5 more, children will be given access to unlimited games and activities in the Kids Corner.

Every ticket comes with an entry to throw out the first pitch, according to Staff Assembly. Also, players will make themselves available to sign autographs, and children will bed invited to run the bases after the game.

Staff Assembly announced that $5 from every ticket will go to the staff dependant scholarship program.

Ticket order form. For more information, contact Tiva Lasiter, Staff Assembly coordinator, (530) 752-0988 or tlasiter@ucdavis.edu.

Aggies on the Move: Each of the members of Team Tres Amigas walked, on average, 21,773 steps a day over eight weeks, to win the Team Challenge this spring.
