Staff Assembly this week announced less expensive ticket options for the UC Davis Picnic at the Sacramento River Cats game Aug. 29.
The new options include lawn seating, children’s tickets — and tickets to the ballgame without the accompanying barbecue. Also, ticket prices no longer include a $5 surcharge — money that would have gone to Staff Assembly for staff scholarships.
“We are offering more flexibility for families and making it cheaper to attend,” said Tiva Lasiter, coordinator of Staff Assembly.
In addition, Staff Assembly has extended the ticket order deadline to 5 p.m. Aug. 11. The event is open to all UC Davis and UC Davis Health Center affiliates, plus their families and friends.
The Aug. 29 game is set to take place at Raley Field in West Sacramento, starting at 1:05 p.m. — with the River Cats scheduled to play the Fresno Grizzlies in a Pacific Coast League (Triple A) matchup.
Here is the new pricing structure:
• Seats in the Gold Rush section, with the all-you-can-eat barbecue included — $30 for adults, $27 for children ages 2 to 10
• Lawn seating, with barbecue — $25 for adults, $22 for children ages 2 to 10
• Lawn seating, without barbecue — $7
• Children up to 23 months old — Free
Lasiter said the barbecue will run from noon to 2 p.m. and feature the following menu: hamburgers, Raley Field hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, potato chips, watermelon slices and, for each person, one nonalcoholic beverage.
Every ticket sold through Staff Assembly will come with an entry to throw out the first pitch, and, according to Lasiter, the day will feature other raffle prizes as well.
Also, players will make themselves available to sign autographs, and children are welcome to run the bases after the game.
Lasiter said the day also will feature a number of other free activities for children, including face painting, balloon art and magic. For a $5 fee, children will be given access to unlimited games and activities in the Kids Corner.
