PUBLIC AFFAIRS: Doctors Without Borders; 'Understanding the Financial Crisis'

DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS: The Program in International and Community Nutrition announced a public lecture by Buddhima Lokuge of Doctors Without Borders, discussing "the urgent need for international action to address the global impact of childhood nutrition."

The program is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 14 in 1001 Giedt Hall. Admission is free.

Organizers said Lokuge will discuss the impact of malnutrition on children, families and communities; and the national and international neglect of childhood nutrition.

Also, organizers said, he will offer practical strategies for reversing this crisis in the most severely affected areas.

'UNDERSTANDING THE FINANCIAL CRISIS': The Institute of Governmental Affairs Policy Watch seminar series is looking at the hottest policy debate going, with an Oct. 17 program titled "Understanding the Financial Crisis."

Participating faculty: Paul Bergin and Alan M. Taylor, Department of Economics; Brad Barber, Graduate School of Management; and Eric Rauchway, Department of History.

The program, free and open to the public, is scheduled from 12:10 to 1 p.m. in the IGA Reading Room, 360 Shields Library.
