Nov. 19, Friday -- Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and Princeton sociologist Paul Starr will address the most fundamental choices regarding communications--the choices about the institutional structure of the media. Starr, who won a Pulitzer in the 1980s for a news story about the rise of for-profit health care organizations, just published a new book, "The Creation of the Media: Political Origins of Modern Communications." He researches and teaches about communications and culture. Starr's visit is part of the Department of Sociology's seminar series "When Things Break Down: Social Systems in Crisis." His talk begins at noon in the AGR Room of the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center on campus.
