UC Davis police and fire officials and the Yolo County Bomb Squad are investigating a suspicious object found near a Cargo coffee kiosk Saturday afternoon (May 1). The kiosk is located between the School of Education and Olson Hall on the eastern edge of campus.

Campus police received a call about the suspicious object at 5:30 p.m.

As a precaution, the School of Education building, Olson Hall and three nearby buildings -- Sproul, Voorhies and University House --  were evacuated for several hours. Six people were working in the buildings.

After a bomb squad robot rendered the object safe, the object was taken to a crime lab for analysis.

A Cargo coffee kiosk located near the law school on the south side of campus burned to the ground Friday morning in what UC Davis fire officials described as a suspicious fire. That incident also remains under investigation.
