Picnic Day 2010 dawned beneath sunny skies on April 17 in Davis and was overseen by alums Tom and Meg Stallard, who served as parade grand marshals, riding through town on a Wells Fargo horsedrawn stage coach.
The Associated Students of UC Davis presented the university’s 96th installment of Picnic Day in collaboration with the university. This year’s theme was “Carpe Davis: Seizing Opportunities,” a spin on carpe diem, “seize the day” in Latin.
Picnic Day is believed to be the largest student-run festival in the country. Nearly 100,000 people were estimated to have attended, as usual, for the parade and more than 200 activities, including exhibits and demonstrations, tours and open houses, entertainment and the Multicultural Children’s Faire.
