PARKING AT A GLANCE

Do not call a parking enforcement officer a "meter maid." The scope of the job is far more than just citing violators at meters and parking lots. Plus, it is sexist language.

  • Average cost of a campus parking ticket is $30.
  • TAPS "boots" two to three cars a month. Boots can be used once the car's owner has five or more delinquent citations that are outstanding. The cost of boot removal is $35 plus paying all the delinquent parking fines on your record.
  • Five full-time parking enforcement officers patrol the campus from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. during the academic year and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the summer.
  • Lot #25 (adjacent to the ARC) and the North Parking Structure are where most violations occur.
  • The term used by parking divisions across the country for a driver who amasses parking tickets and refuses to pay them is "scofflaw." The term is shorthand for people who scoff at the law.
