Oct. 17, Sunday -- A discussion among artists and scientists about healing cancer will kick off an exhibition of The Breast Art collection at the Design Museum at UC Davis. The "wearable breast art" collection is owned by the California Breast Cancer Research Program of the University of California. "Artists create tangible expressions of research questions; we fund the research that addresses the issues expressed in the art. The Breast Art collection exemplifies the spirit of our founders and encourages everyone to push for better ways to eliminate breast cancer," says Marion Kavanaugh-Lynch, director of the research program and a panelist. Other speakers include curator/scientist/artist Kate Collie; Sarah Mayhew, contributing artist and UC Davis design instructor; Joyce Belluomini, a model for the breast art project; and guest Denise Dalton. The panel begins its discussion at 1 p.m. in 176 Everson Hall. Public admission costs $10. A free reception follows at 2 p.m. at the museum, 145 Walker Hall.
