Feb. 5, Thursday -- Three UC Davis agricultural experts will debate the seriousness of mad cow disease in a noontime discussion sponsored by the Institute of Governmental Affairs. The speakers include Dean Cliver, a national expert on mad cow disease and a professor of veterinary medicine in the Department of Population Health and Reproduction; Daniel Sumner, an agricultural economist who directs the UC Agricultural Issues Center and an expert on the international beef trade and potential effects of embargoes; and José Bervejillo, an agricultural economist at the Agricultural Issues Center with expertise in the policies and economics of cattle diseases and the international beef market. The talk takes place 12:10-1 p.m. in 360 Shields Library.
