* Nov. 17, Monday -- Impacts from the war on terror on Asian-Americans and Arab-Americans will be the focus of an evening event called "The War at Home: Detentions, Deportations, and Dissent." Sponsored by the Cambodian Students Association and the Asian American Studies Program, the event will gather a diverse group of people to discuss common experiences and struggles since 9/11. Featured speakers include Porthira Chimm, an attorney challenging the deportation of Cambodian Americans; Amer Jubran, a Palestinian-American activist targeted for deportation for his activities; Samina Faheem, a Pakistani-American activist and executive director of the American Muslim Voice; and Kali Akuno-Williams, involved with the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement and co-director of the School of Social Justice in Oakland. Tarik Kazaleh, a Palestinian-American musician, will perform. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m., at the MU Coffee House, UC Davis campus.
