THE OUTDOORS: Herbs, veggies, flowers on Quad; Habitat for Humanity benefit ride

HERBS, VEGGIES, FLOWERS ON THE QUAD: The Environmental Horticulture Club announced a plant sale May 28 on the Quad, to benefit the club.

Organizers said offerings will include herbs (such as basil varieties, parsley, cilantro and shiso), eggplant and okra, and Japanese iris and other flowers.

The sale is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BENEFIT RIDE: A scheduling conflict prompted a date change for UC Davis Habitat for Humanity's second annual Ride for Humanity bikeathon. It will be May 31, a day earlier than before, organizers said.

Check-in will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Center, 203 E. 14th St, Davis. The 32-mile route goes to Winters and back. Free food and music are planned at the halfway point in Winters. Organizers said families and riders of all skill levels are welcome, with each participant encouraged to ride at his or her own pace.

Registration: ucdhabitat.com. The fees are $30 student, $35 nonstudent and $20 under 16.
