THE OUTDOORS: Guide training at Stebbins Cold Canyon

Are you interested in sharing your knowledge of sustainability, geology, flowers, water conservation or anything else that might lend itself to an outdoor adventure at Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve, or maybe you would like to lead a bilingual outing?

If so, you are invited to sign up for a guide training program in January, to help you identify a topic or topics and mold them into presentations for the public.

The training process starts with an overview of the canyon’s natural history. The program also includes the general logistics of running a group outing. Then each participant gives a minipresentation to the group; feedback is aimed at strengthening the presentations.

The training is scheduled over the course of three Saturdays: Jan. 9, 16 and 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stebbins Cold Canyon. The cost is $15 per person (for printing expenses) and the course is limited to 10 people.

Interested? Send an e-mail to Jeff Falyn, jfalyn@ucdavis.edu. Please include your phone number.
