Tour -- Variations on a Theme: Acacias Along the Creek. 11 a.m. Feb. 23, arboretum headquarters, La Rue Road. Free parking in lot 46 across the street from the headquarters.

Workshop -- Native Californian Elderberry Flute Making, with East Bay Regional Parks docent Antonio Flores talking about the culture of flute making and also about the endangered elderberry beetle. 1-3 p.m. Feb. 24, 146 Environmental Horticulture, Old Davis Road. Materials will be supplied, but participants are asked to bring sharp pocket knives. All ages invited; adults must supervise young children. Free parking in Lot 5, Old Davis Road and A Street.

Tour -- Native Plants from a Gardener's Perspective. 11 a.m. March 1, Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center. Free parking in Lot 1 and the garage south of the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts.
