FLUTE-MAKING WORKSHOP
The UC Davis Arboretum is inviting the public to learn about Native Californian elderberry flute-making, in a free workshop led by docent Antonio Flores of the East Bay Regional Park District.
The program, scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 22, is open to all ages; adults are asked to accompany and supervise their young children.
Organizers said Flores will provide instruction in making and playing flutes, and talk about the culture of flute-making and about the endangered elderberry beetle.
All materials will be supplied; participants are asked to bring sharpened pocketknives.
The workshop location is Room 146 of the Environmental Horticulture complex on Old Davis Road near Mrak Hall Drive. Limited free parking is available at the Environmental Horticulture complex; more free parking is available in Lot 5, Old Davis Road and A Street.
