Open House at Flying Lab

Oct. 23, Monday, 9-11 a.m. -- The public and news media are invited to tour the DC-8 flying laboratory currently visiting McClellan Park. The converted airliner, which is operated for NASA by the University of North Dakota, is used for a wide variety of research including pollution and atmospheric studies, climate and weather, satellite retrieval and space research. It is visiting McClellan for an extensive routine maintenance check, including work with UC Davis' Aircraft Health Management Program. The aircraft is parked at the Jet Services Building at the end of Peacekeeper Way, off Watt Avenue, north of I-80. Visitors should wait at the Jet Services Building and will be escorted to the aircraft.
