Welcome to the first issue of a new communication for all UC Davis employees, one that we hope will be a timely, easy way to keep up with what you need to know each week about campus community news, events and directives. You will see the new UC Davis Friday Update in your e-mail inboxes every Friday morning as a supplement to the weekly print editions of Dateline UC Davis.

While the e-mail cannot contain all the news that you will read in each issue of Dateline, it is our hope that you'll enjoy the Web links to sites throughout the campus that you may not have known were a resource to you. The e-mail is also a response to requests from many faculty and staff members who want a quick, easy way to scan important campus information. You also will likely get some new information that may have missed Dateline's print deadline earlier in the week. And finally, it is also our hope to streamline and minimize the amount of e-mail you receive from the campus, particularly through forwarded UC Davis Directives, which will now be consolidated here every Friday. (A separate notice was sent out earlier about new directive deadlines; see directives.ucdavis.edu.)
