Tonight (July 25), for the second time this week, the Sacramento-Yolo mosquito control district will conduct ground spraying in the campus’s southwest corner.

The spraying, by truck, is scheduled from 9 to 11 p.m. along the arboretum waterway west of Putah Creek Lodge Drive and south of Garrod Drive (and the Health Sciences District). The Equestrian Center is not included.

Campus officials cautioned: If you had planned to be in the area, say, to visit the Shields Oak Grove or walk along the arboretum, you should pick another spot. The arboretum planned to set out signs to advise of the situation.

The first spraying in that same area took place Wednesday night (July 23), two days after a sampling operation detected West Nile virus infection in two adult mosquitoes
