MORE THAN A DOG DAY

UC Davis Chief of Police Annette Spicuzza and officer Walter Broussard pose for a picture while Grimm, a police dog, chews on a bone. Grimm and 10 other police dogs were honored for their years of service in California law enforcement during a March 31 public rededication of UC Davis’ “Faithful Partner” memorial. More than 150 people, including law enforcement officers from as far away as San Diego, attended the event. Originally dedicated in 2002, the memorial recognizes the bonds of service and affection between police dog and handler. It displays 23 plaques honoring dogs that lost their lives while serving California law enforcement between 1960 and 2002.
