STREB — Elizabeth Streb and company present Brave, another of Streb’s works of “action architecture.” They are all about pure movement, the idea of the circle and the pursuit of perpetual motion, complete with virtuoso trapeze artists, amazing dancers, incredible gizmos, the thrills of the circus and the excitement of extreme sports. 3 p.m. March 21, Jackson Hall. Bodil Wennberg Music Festival — Annual concert by orchestral musicians from Davis public schools. This year’s program features the All-District Elementary Strings Orchestra (fifth- and sixth-graders), the Combined Intermediate Junior High Orchestra (seventh-graders), the Combined Advanced Junior High Orchestra (eight- and ninth-graders), the High School Chamber Orchestra, the Baroque Ensemble and the High School Symphony Orchestra. Also featured: cellist Isabel Ortiz, 2010 Concerto Competition winner, performing Kol Nidre by Max Bruch. 2:30 p.m. March 27, Jackson Hall.
Young Artists Competition — A concert by the winners of this Mondavi Center competition, now in its fifth year. 2 p.m. March 28, Vanderhoef Studio Theatre.
Ein Deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem) — Presented by the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra. Organizers invite the public to discover why Brahms’ Requiem “may be the most comforting, humane requiem ever written.” Soloists: Jessica Siena, soprano, and Stephen Janzen, baritone. With projected supertitles. 2 p.m. March 28, Jackson Hall. The presenters advise that the concert is not appropriate for children under 6. Post-concert reception to meet the artists.
Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández — Mexico’s oldest and most celebrated dance company. Dancer and choreographer Hernández created the company more than 50 years ago to preserve the country’s dance traditions. Today the troupe features a cast of 75 dancers and musicians who continue to perform the colorful, historic dances of Mexico. 8 p.m. March 29, Jackson Hall.
