James Kramar Banks, the 19-year-old UC Davis student who had been reported missing Tuesday night, has been found safe, the UC Davis Police Department announced this afternoon.

Banks, a sophomore from San Diego majoring in international agricultural development, was found just outside the city of Davis by the Yolo County Sheriff's Department.

The student's parents have been notified and UC Davis Police Lt. Nader Oweis said campus police want to thank everyone who helped find Banks.

Earlier today, UC Davis Police had asked the news media and the public for help in trying to locate Banks, who was described at the time as "a missing person at risk."

Banks had been last seen at Thoreau Hall, a residence hall at 533 Oxford Circle in Davis, at 10:50 p.m., Monday. A resident advisor was the last person to see Banks as he left the residence hall.

His parents reported him missing at 10 p.m., Tuesday. He had not attended classes for the last two days, and UC Davis Police say that Banks' cell phone, credit cards and identification were all left in his room.
