Migden Speaks on Domestic Partnership Law

* Oct. 15, Wednesday -- Carole Migden, chair of the California State Board of Equalization and an advocate for domestic partnership rights, will speak at UC Davis about recent developments relating to California's new domestic partnership law. AB 25, which granted specific rights to registered domestic partners, and the Domestic Partner Act are being challenged in court as a violation of Defense of Marriage Act passed by voters as Proposition 22 in 2000. Gov. Gray Davis recently signed the Domestic Partner Rights and Responsibilities Act. A state legislator from 1996 to 2002, Migden has been recognized for her advocacy in support of gay rights, the environment and labor. Her presentation will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 66 of Roessler Hall. It has been organized by the Lambda Law student group at the School of Law.
