Nesrin Sarigul-Klijn, a professor of mechanical and aeronautical engineering, can comment on the possible design and construction of a new generation of manned spacecraft to replace the space shuttle and for voyages to the moon and Mars. Sarigul-Klijn coordinates the UC Davis SpaceEd graduate program in space engineering and teaches undergraduate level courses in rocket engineering. She has also developed a proposal for a reusable spacecraft that would be launched from a large cargo plane and carry up to three people into orbit.
