McCoy: Davis librarian for 33 years

William McCoy died Oct. 18 from lung cancer at his home in Davis.

McCoy, a UC Davis librarian for 33 years, used the GI Bill to attend Burbank Junior College, then earned bachelor's and master's degrees in history from UC Berkeley. He also received a master's degree in library science from UC Berkeley and was a technical services librarian at the California State Library in Sacramento and San Fernando Valley State College. In 1962 he came to UC Davis, and in 1964, was named associate university librarian. McCoy was acting university librarian in l984-85 before retiring in 1985.

A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. on Dec. 1 in the Studio Theatre at Mondavi Center. All members of the campus community are invited.
