LETTER: Senate leaders call for Vanderhoef scholarship support

 Dear Editor:

As current and former chairs of the Davis Division of the Academic Senate, we have worked with Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef over the last decade and a half. We would like to honor his legacy of leadership by helping to ensure a bright future for UC Davis and the generations of students and staff members to come.

We have noted below two ways to recognize the chancellor and his many contributions to the campus. We have all committed to this recognition and we ask that you consider doing the same.

The new Larry N. Vanderhoef Scholarship Fund for Students and Staff honors the chancellor’s longtime commitment to helping students gain greater cultural understanding through study abroad and helping staff to advance in their careers through continued education.

The UC Davis Annual Fund, Davis Chancellor’s Club, helps achieve important campus priorities that cannot be met by state support alone, such as student scholarships and faculty research funds.

We believe that contributions to these funds both acknowledge Chancellor Vanderhoef and lay the groundwork for the next chapter in the story of UC Davis. We have ourselves committed to this future and ask that you consider doing the same.
