Let's goBiking (or walking), let's win some prizes

UC Davis’ goClub is giving away two new bicycles this month to encourage staff, faculty and students to two-wheel their way to and from campus, not just in May  (which is Bike Month in the Sacramento region) but all through the year.

The bike drawing is open to all goClub members; just make sure you are enrolled on or before May 12. You can enroll in person at the TAPS office (next to the west entry garage off Hutchison Drive) or online (goclub.ucdavis.edu).

Or, stop by the goClub tent during the Thank Goodness for Staff Picnic on May 12. This will also give you a chance to see the two prize bikes: Kustom Kruisers donated by the campus Bike Barn.

The goClub—run by Transportation and Parking Services, or TAPS—promotes bicycling, walking and other forms of alternative transportation. Membership is free, and each of the club's six modes—goBike, goWalk, goCarpool, goVanpool, goBus and goTrain—features special incentives in one form or another: prize drawings, subsidies or discounted transit passes.

For example, all goBike and goWalk members are eligible for a May drawing in which goClub is giving away five bicycle baskets, each filled with gift cards and coupons and prizes worth more than $300, including Silo and Gunrock Pub meals, Unitrans and Yolobus passes, Activities and Recreation Center membership, Bike Barn labor discount, Intercollegiate Athletics tickets, UC Davis apparel, a bicycle light and a Zipcar membership with $100 of driving time.

Zipcar (zipcar.com/ucd), a nationwide car-sharing service, came to UC Davis last year with eight cars, which are parked on campus and available for rent on an hourly or daily basis.

Another “Z” service is Zimride (zimride.ucdavis.edu), an online site for ridesharing. If you log on by May 12, you will eligible to win a $60 iTunes gift card.
