LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE: A SUSTAINABLE CAMPUS

Nearly a dozen UC Davis people involved in campus sustainability are listed as presenters in the Landscape Architecture Program’s fall quarter Lunchbag Lecture Series: A Sustainable Campus — What’s Being Done? What More Can Be Done?”

The programs, free and open to the public, are scheduled from 12:10 to 1 p.m. every Friday in 1130 Hart Hall (which represents a change from the room that was announced initially). All of the scheduled speakers are affiliated with UC Davis.

Stephen Wheeler, associate professor in the Landscape Architecture Program, launched the series on Sept. 25 with a program titled “Sustainability in the Campus Context.”

Here is the remainder of the schedule:

Oct. 2 — Skip Mezger, senior landscape architect: “Sustainability in Campus Landscapes.”

Oct. 9 — Sid England, assistant vice chancellor, Environmental Stewardship: “UC Davis Sustainability Initiatives.”

Oct. 16 — Ellen Zagory, director of horticulture, arboretum: “Sustainability Initiatives at the Arboretum.”

Oct. 23 — Gina Rios, general manager for Sodexo’s retail operations on the Davis campus: “Sustainability in Campus Dining.”

Oct. 30 — Bill Starr and Gary Dahl of Architects and Engineers: “Sustainability in Campus Buildings.”

Nov. 6 — Clifford Contreras, director, Transportation and Parking Services; Mary Maffly, goClub coordinator, TAPS; and David Takemoto-Weerts, Bicycle Program coordinator, TAPS: “Sustainability in Campus Transportation.”

Nov. 13 — Bob Segar, assistant vice chancellor, Planning: “Sustainability in Campus Development.”

Nov. 20 — Susan Macaulay, administrative services analyst, library: “Sustainability at Shields Library.”

Dec. 4 — Minicharette: “Your Ideas for a Sustainable Campus,” led by Wheeler, with special guests.
