They call themselves the Ives Quartet, inspired by the passionate, artistic commitment and unique temperament of American composer Charles Ives (1874–1954). The San Francisco-based musicians are artists in residence this quarter in the Department of Music. Hear them play in two public concerts the first week of February.

THE CONCERTS

Feb. 5 — Quincy Porter’s In monasterio and Amy Beach’s Piano Quintet, op. 67, with Lois Brandwynne, piano. 12:05 p.m., 115 Music Building. Free.
