How Universities and Communities Can Make a Difference

Feb. 17, Tuesday -- How can universities and communities come together to make a difference in the world? Nancy Cantor, chancellor and president of Syracuse University, will explore the question at a free public forum beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Bistro 33, 226 F St., Davis.

Drawing on her own experiences working with the arts, inclusive education, environmental justice and sustainability, and neighborhood and economic development, Cantor will explore ideas and strategies for creating vibrant connections and reciprocal partnerships between the world of work and the world of scholarship.

This talk is the third in the 2008-09 Public Intellectuals Forum, an ongoing speakers series presented by the UC Davis Humanities Institute and the UC Davis Center for History, Society and Culture. The Public Intellectuals Forum seeks to bring compelling, challenging ideas out of the university and into the community through conversations with leading scholars and writers.
