HISTORY IS MADE: Campus joins nation to witness Obama’s inauguration

Just because people work or study on campus did not mean they missed the presidential inauguration early Tuesday morning — the campus was abuzz with a festive atmosphere. On the front: Student Dominique Waters passes out balloons as part of a Memorial Union event by Black Family Week organizers. The red, black and green colors represented the African diaspora; the red, white and blue ones symbolized the U.S. presidency. Inside: The UC Davis Black Law Students Association held a viewing party in the King Hall student lounge where third-year student, Deborah Gettleman, left, and first-year student Esmeralda Soria were among those watching the swearing-in ceremony of the nation’s first black president and its 44th overall.
