Help us identify people to be featured on new banners

We have banners proclaiming The Campaign for UC Davis and our status as the “No. 1 Cool School.” Now, another banner project is the works, to showcase the faculty, staff, students, emeriti and retirees, alumni and other friends who exemplify the best of this great institution.

“We know we want to honor individuals and those who are part of teams, who can be unsung heroes, who represent all walks of campus life. We are seeking diversity of our subjects — disciplines; job titles; recognized leaders; experienced researchers; quiet, student-centered ambassadors; unique students; interesting alumni; retirees who are still engaged; and so on,” said Luanne Lawrence, associate chancellor of the Office of Strategic Communications (formerly University Communications).

She has already reached out to the Council of Deans and Vice Chancellors for subject ideas. “As we begin the hard work of planning who we might feature, I am writing to solicit your suggestions on individuals who you feel would represent the values of the university, contributions to their disciplines, positive work ethic, leadership and/or passion for UC Davis and our mission,” she wrote.

But everyone’s suggestions are welcome: “We want a banner strategy that celebrates the differences in strengths, abilities, talents and personalities on both our Davis and Sacramento campuses,” she said.

The banner subjects will become part of a new, integrated marketing and branding strategy, Lawrence said.

“We look forward to honoring amazing people with this campaign and thank you for any suggestions,” she said. “Of course, we will not be able to honor all suggestions, but since this is a campaign that will continue, we hope we will rotate banners over time to honor many, many of our UC Davis representatives.”

Name suggestions should be sent by email to Mary Nauer, manauer@ucdavis.edu, by Wednesday, July 31.
