The “Stigma-Free UC” series continues next week with a second webinar, this one dealing with the potential of positive psychology to improve emotional health. Also, registration is underway for two more sessions of Active Aggies Mobile. And save the date, Sunday, April 29, for Stride for Aggie Pride, which this year will incorporate the TGFS Fun Run.
MENTAL HEALTH WEBINAR — Positive psychology, with its focus on what makes human beings flourish, offers practical tools for supporting resilience and well-being. Learn more from UCLA’s Robert Bilder, speaking on “Positive Psychology: Erasing the Stigma of Mental Illness.”
UC’s Well-Being Initiative invites all faculty, staff and students to attend. The webinar will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 20. Here’s the link to participate online. Or, you can attend by phone: Call 408-638-0968 (Meeting ID 419 135 912).
Bilder, besides being the chief of medical psychology-neuropsychology at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, and director of the Tennenbaum Center for the Biology of Creativity, leads the Mind Well pod within UCLA’s Healthy Campus Initiative.

ACTIVE AGGIES MOBILE — Two new sessions will start the first week of April and run through the first week of June. The exercise and fitness classes meet from noon to 1 p.m., generally two days a week, in different parts of the campus.
Enrollment is open to staff, faculty, students and retirees — with registration required.
Here are the details, including the links for required registration:
- Monday-Wednesday — April 2-June 6 (no class May 28), 150 Medical Sciences 1B (the old Scrubs Café), Health Sciences District. Register here.
- Tuesday-Thursday — April 3-June 7, third-floor lobby, Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. Register here.
RUN FOR FUN AND STRIDE FOR AGGIE PRIDE — You can do both at the same time this year, because the Thank Goodness for Staff Fun Run is rolling into the Stride for Aggie Pride 5K, to be held Sunday, April 29.
Now in its sixth year, the Stride for Aggie Pride 5K is a fundraiser for:
- We Are Aggie Pride — This students-helping-students organization provides emergency funding to cover rent, books and/or other essential costs not covered by other programs
- ASUCD Awards Endowment — Providing tuition support to more than a dozen students annually.
The activity also promotes a healthy lifestyle, with a specific focus on student holistic health to promote mental and physical fitness. Stride for Aggie Pride is family friendly, open to all ages, for UC Davis affiliates and the public.
The run-walk will start and end at the northeast corner of the Quad at 9:30 a.m., preceded by warm-up activities and welcome at 9 a.m. and followed by an activity fair from 10:15 a.m. to noon.
Early-bird registration is now open and will continue through April 15, offering fee discounts and the best chance to get your desired T-shirt size. Donations to the philanthropic cause also are welcome.
