Groundbreaking Set for New Veterinary Building

May 7, Friday -- A team of Percheron draft horses pulling an antique plow will do the groundbreaking honors for a new classroom complex near UC Davis' Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. The two-story, 55,000-square-foot Veterinary Medicine Instructional Facility will replace cramped and aging facilities and become the instructional heart of an expanded, modernized veterinary campus. The new $27 million facility, scheduled for completion in late 2005, is supported by public and private funds. The groundbreaking ceremonies will begin at 4 p.m. just north of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Parking is available in Lot 50 at Veterinary Medicine Drive and Garrod Drive.
