Agricultural producers and industry leaders will gather with researchers, policymakers, legal experts, regulators, environmental groups and green-technology providers June 1-2 at the University of California, Davis, for a conference focused on agriculture and air quality.

The “Green Acres, Blue Skies II” conference, designed to advance agricultural systems and technology that protect air quality, will be held in UC Davis’ Activities and Recreation Center. The conference is coordinated by UC Davis’ Air Quality Research Center and Agricultural Air Quality Center, in collaboration with agricultural, research and regulatory leaders.

“We hope that by sharing perspectives, new scientific research findings, the latest in new technologies and practices, and progressive policy insights, we can all work toward the development of an agricultural system that provides an abundance of food and fiber while safeguarding the health of our global and regional environment,” said Frank Mitloehner, an associate professor and Cooperative Extension specialist and director of the UC Davis Agricultural Air Quality Center.

The conference will include an overview of agricultural air-quality issues, tours to local agricultural operations and concurrent sessions focused on topics such as energy, engines, animal and plant production, climate change, particulate and gas emissions and mitigation, and economic and health implications.
