-- UC Davis Spanish and classics lecturer Francisco Alarcon has won his second Pura Belpré Honor Award for his book, "From the Bellybutton of the Moon and Other Summer Poems." The award for Latino children's literature is given by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, and the national Association to Promote Library Services to the Spanish Speaking. Alarcon's book "Laughing Tomatoes and Other Spring Poems" won the same award in 1998, as well as the National Parenting Publications Gold Medal.
