Leon Botstein, conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, is scheduled to participate in Forum@MC on Oct. 28, the day after he leads his orchestra in a Mondavi Center performance.

Oct. 20 -- "Shakespeare: From Page to Stage," with author Jane Smiley (A Thousand Acres, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel that updates Shakespeare's King Lear for modern times) and Gina Bloom, assistant professor of English, talking about Shakespeare and Smiley's book, and issues involved in presenting Shakespeare in contemporary times. 5 p.m., Jackson Hall (last week's Dateline gave an incorrect location).

Oct. 28 -- "The Bernstein Effect," with Leon Botstein, conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and Professor D. Kern Holoman, longtime conductor of the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra, discussing conductor, composer and music educator Leonard Bernstein and his impact on classical music. 5 p.m., Studio Theatre. (Botstein and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra are scheduled to present a concert at 8 p.m. Oct. 27 in Jackson Hall at the Mondavi Center; ticket availability is limited.)
